Man taken to hospital after being rescued from mud in Co Down

A man has been taken to hospital after finding himself stuck in mud on Tuesday morning.

At 9.30am on Tuesday morning, HM Coastguard received a 999 call from a concerned member of the public about a man stuck in the mud near Holywood, Co Down.

Coastguard rescue teams from Bangor and Portaferry were sent, alongside Lagan Search and Rescue, the PSNI and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

A Coastguard spokesperson told Belfast Live: "The man was extracted by Bangor CRT and passed into the care of the ambulance."

The PSNI were also in the area at the time of the incident this morning.

A spokesperson said: "Police received a report in relation to a man who required assistance in the vicinity of the Esplanade in Holywood this morning (Tuesday, 13th July).

"The Coastguard and Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended to assist the male who was taken to hospital as a precaution."

Belfast Live has asked the NIAS for a comment.
