Man taken to hospital after being found hurt on train tracks in Wythenshawe

A man has been taken to hospital after he was found hurt on train tracks in Wythenshawe.

Emergency services were called to reports of a casualty on the tracks at the Northenden Junction, near Timpson Road in Baguley, at around 2.15pm on Friday (October 16).

A man was taken to hospital from the scene, British Transport Police have confirmed.

He was taken to hospital with a head injury.

An air ambulance was called to the incident but was not needed, a North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

In a statement, a BTP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to the line at Northenden Junction, just outside Manchester, at 2.14pm today (16 October) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and the person was taken to hospital.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious."

A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to Timpson Road.

"We have taken a male patient to Salford Royal Hospital with a head injury.

"We sent a number of resources to the scene.

"The air ambulance was allocated but was not used.

"The patient was taken to hospital by land ambulance."
