Man taken to hospital after stabbing at block of flats in Stockport

A man has been taken to hospital after he was stabbed at a block of flats in Stockport.

Police were called to Conway Towers on Blackberry Lane in Brinnington at around 10.55pm on Friday (31 July), to reports of an assault.

Emergency services attended and a man was taken to hospital with stab wounds. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Blood could be seen trailing from the entrance of the tower block, to the bench outside.

Residents said stairs inside the building were also cordoned off.

Eye witnesses described seeing a large emergency response to the incident, with several police cars and ambulances attending the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault, to come forward.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "At around 10.55pm on Friday 31 July 2020, police were called to reports of an assault on Blackberry Lane, Brinnington.

"Officers attended.

"A man was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. 

"An investigation is underway. No arrests have been made."
