Man taken to hospital after A38 crash near Bristol Airport

A man has been taken to hospital with a ‘serious’ head injury following a crash near Bristol Airport.

The collision took place around 11pm on Saturday (June 13) on the A38 near Winscombe, just south of the airport.

Avon and Somerset police said it was a single-vehicle collision.

The driver, a man in his 40s, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The road was closed in both directions between A371 Sidcot Lane and Sidcot School for 12 hours while police carried out accident and investigation work.

It reopened at around 11.30am this morning (Sunday, June 14).

During the closure police advised HGVs to divert to the next M5 junction and asked other vehicles to find local diversions.

The closure did not seem to cause any major traffic problems despite the A38 being a main route.
