Man taken to hospital after a big group in Invergowrie allegedly assaulted him in the street

A man had to be taken to hospital after being attacked by a gang of around 20 youths in a Perthshire village.

The horror incident which took place near the junction of Dargie Road, Bayview Road and Noble Avenue in Invergowrie, happened sometime between 8.45pm and 9.15pm on Friday, November 13.

The 35 year-old man was allegedly attacked and assaulted by members of a group of about 20 youngsters he had been remonstrating with regarding a car having been damaged earlier.

The victim suffered a dislocated shoulder and injuries to his face. A group of around 20 people allegedly assaulted a man in Invergowrie, Perthshire on Friday night, sending him to hospital with facial injuries.

A police appeal described what happened: “A number of members of the group pushed and shoved him, with one of them then punching him. “The victim required hospital treatment for a dislocated shoulder and facial injuries.”

Carse of Gowrie councillor Angus Forbes condemned what had happened: “I was horrified to learn of this incident.

“I had many reports of youths in Invergowrie over the summer period but nothing of this seriousness.

“I sincerely hope that the police find the culprits and bring them to justice very soon. Someone must know who these youths are and they have an obligation to pass that information to the police.

“I hope the victim makes a quick and full recovery. 

“Invergowrie has enjoyed a very low crime rate until this year and I know the police and the councils wardens have given the area more attention which I hope will continue.”

Police have already spoken to a number of witnesses, however officers would like to hear from anyone who saw any part of this incident, or had other dealings with this group on Friday evening.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We would also like to hear from anyone in the area who has private CCTV or may have dashcam footage of the group and their movements.

“If you have any information that could assist our investigation, please call 101 or speak with any police officer. Also, information can be given anonymously through CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.

Our reference is incident 3811 of November 13.”
