Man SWALLOWS AirPod - but it still works after passing out the other end

They’re one of the ‘must-have’ gadgets at the moment, and now one AirPod owner has put Apple ’s wireless earphones through a gruelling test.

Ben Hsu, a navy recruiter from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, somehow swallowed one of his AirPods, after falling asleep with them in his ears.

Using his iPhone , he managed to track the AirPod to his room, but couldn’t locate it.

He said: “I checked under my blanket and looked around but couldn't find it - then I realised the sound was coming from my stomach.”

Having located the AirPod, Mr Hsu went to hospital, where doctors gave him laxatives to force the AirPod through his system.

The next day, the AirPod *ehem* resurfaced - although Mr Hsu was forced to sort through his faeces to find it.

While you might think that the ordeal would put him off using the AirPods, it seems that Mr Hsu was undeterred.

After somehow washing the AirPod, he put it back in his ear, and was amazed to find that it still worked.

He added: “The battery was still at 41 percent! It was incredible.”

According to the doctors who treated Mr Hsu, the AirPods’ plastic shell was crucial to his survival.

Dr Chen Chieh-fan explained: “Because of the plastic shell around the AirPod, the risk of it causing him harm in a similar way to swallowing a regular lithium-ion battery is much lower.”

While Mr Hsu had a lucky escape, we wouldn’t recommend anyone else attempts to swallow an AirPod - or any electrical equipment for that matter...
