A man was treated for "life-changing injuries" after an incident on the tracks at Cardiff Central station. People were evacuated out of Cardiff Central station on Saturday night after a man was allegedly struck by a train on one of the platforms.

British Transport Police said in a statement: "British Transport Police were called to Cardiff Central railway station at 5.49pm on Saturday 19 March following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, and a man was taken to a local hospital for treatment to life-changing injuries where he remains. This incident is not being treated as suspicious."

Witnesses described how people had been asked to leave the station at around 6pm on Saturday evening. The man is understood to have been injured by a Great Western Railway train as it pulled into platform one and two at the station.
