A young man required hospital treatment after sustaining head injuries in an assault.
Gwent Police said they received a report of an incident on Commercial Road Newport shortly before 7pm on Wednesday.
A spokesperson said a 23-year-old man was assaulted by another man outside Antalya Kebabs, near the corner for Bolt Street.
The man required hospital treatment but is now recovering at home.
Gwent Police has issued an appeal for anyone with information that may help with their enquires to come forward.
Officers would like to speak with a man captured on CCTV in the Commercial Road and Alexandra Road area around the time of the incident.
A spokesperson said: "We're appealing for information following an assault that occurred on Commercial Road, Newport on 10th March.
"Just before 7pm, a 23 year old man was assaulted by another man near Antalya Kebabs. He sustained head injuries requiring hospital treatment and is now recovering at home.
"This man was captured on CCTV in the Commercial Road/ Alexandra Road area around the time of the incident and officers are keen to identify and speak with him."
