
Min Buri Police have arrested a man suspected to be the killer of a woman whose dismembered body parts were discovered in Khlong Sam Wa district in eastern Bangkok on Saturday afternoon.
A backpack containing a woman’s head was among the gruesome discoveries made in bushes in Khlong Sam Wa district. Also found were two fertiliser sacks containing other parts of the body, believed to be of a woman.
At about 8.30pm, Min Buri police arrested a man identified as Thanakrit "Wut" Prakob, 25, who was believed to have been the woman's boyfriend. The deceased was identified only as Lakkhana, alias May, a 26-year-old native of Roi-et province.
Initial reports said Lakkhana was an accountant of Print With Me Company, a billboard advertising company on Soi 29 off Liab Khlong Song road in Bang Chan area of Khlong Sam Wa district. The woman resigned from the company in April.
Thanakrit, the suspect, was an employee of the same company. He was arrested near the company's office and taken to Min Buri police station for questioning.
Seven other employees of the company were also brought in to help police with enquiries.
A Yamaha motorcycle belonging to Thanakrit was brought for examination. A police team was dispatched to examine Thankrit's room on the 4th floor of DD Mansion in Min Buri district, where the suspect was believed to have cut up Lakkhana's corpse before dumping the body parts in Khong Sam Wa district.
Thanakrit reportedly confessed to committing the crime. He was was said to be a former chef who once worked in a factory where chickens were dissected.
Police will hold a press conference to provide more details on the grisly murder at the Metropolitan Police Division 3 headquarters.
