Man suffers 'worst pain' of his life after sustained attack by two men in Nottinghamshire

A man was told to split with his girlfriend before having two leg fractures inflicted on him during a 'vicious and sustained attack' at the hands of two men.

The victim was punched to the ground and kicked repeatedly during the sustained attack in Main Road, Jacksdale, in October last year.

He suffered fractures to his leg as well as a black eye and swelling to his right cheek, telling police it was the worst pain he had ever encountered.

Nottingham Crown Court heard that the victim had gone to meet his girlfriend on October 2 when he was set upon by Michael Reeve and Dale Harwood.

The court was told that the man was punched by Harwood, before being repeatedly kicked by Reeve after he had fallen to the ground.

The victim briefly lost consciousness following the attack and was later taken to hospital, where his leg was operated on.

Appearing at court this week for sentencing, Reeve, 41, of Selston Road in Jacksdale, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm and was jailed for three years and four months.

Harwood, 36, of Alfreton Road in Underwood, also admitted to grievous bodily harm and was jailed for one year and 10 months, suspended for two years.

He was also ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work.

Detective Constable Bethany Sumner, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Reeve and Harwood launched a vicious and sustained attack on the victim, inflicting multiple injuries that caused him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

"Thankfully, the victim is on his way to making a full recovery but that does not detract from the fact that this was a brutal incident.

"I’m pleased that our detailed evidence-led investigation has now led to these convictions."
