Man suffers serious life-threatening head injuries as police cordon off Leeds street

A man suffered serious head injuries after a collapsing in the street in Leeds.

The man was believed to have collapsed in the early hours of Sunday morning when an ambulance was called to transport him to Leeds General Infirmary.

Residents had noticed a scene in place for a number of hours while West Yorkshire Police continued to carry out enquiries on the incident.

Police have now revealed how they believe the incident had taken place.

A statement from West Yorkshire Police read: "At 12.31am on Sunday (17/1) police were contacted by staff at Leeds General Infirmary reporting a man brought in by ambulance with life-threatening head injuries having been found collapsed in Selby Road, Halton.

"A scene was put in place while enquiries were carried out into the circumstances. It was subsequently established his injuries were the result of an accidental fall.

"His condition is no longer considered life threatening."
