Man suffers serious injuries in taxi rank after 'pushing in' row

A 41-year-old man suffered 'serious injuries' after he was attacked at a taxi rank in Warrington.

The man was beaten up after he was accused of pushing in at the taxi rank on Crown Street in the Bewsey and Whitecross area of the town.

One of the attackers punched him a number of times causing him to fall to the floor. He was then attacked again.

The man attended Warrington Hospital with 'serious injuries' to his face and leg. He has since been released.

The assault happened at around 4.20am on October 30.

Police have now released a CCTV still of a man they believe could have information about the attack.

Detective Constable Darren Gibson, from Warrington CID, said: “Since the assault took place we have been following a number of enquiries including looking at CCTV footage.

“That has led to identifying a man we believe has information that could assist with our investigation.

“If you recognise him or have information about the assault please get in touch.

“I also want to appeal directly to him to contact us.

“A number of people were either in the queue or nearby at the time the assault occurred. If you saw it take place and not yet spoken to an officer please come forward.”
