Man suffers serious injuries in crash involving bus and car

A man has suffered serious injuries in a crash between a bus and a car.

Emergency services were alerted to the smash on Trinity Street, in Bolton town centre, at about 4.50pm on Tuesday (October 6).

Pictures from the scene show a single decker Vision bus with damage to its front end, with police officers standing next to it.

A man in his 50s was rushed to Royal Bolton Hospital with serious injuries.

The incident, which happened outside Bolton railway station, led to long queues of traffic in the surrounding area.

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service: "We were called at 4.50pm to reports of a collision, involving a bus and another vehicle, on Trinity Street, in Bolton.

"We took one patient, a male in his 50s, to the Royal Bolton Hospital with serious injuries."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service added: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Trinity Street, at the junction with Thynne Street, in Bolton, at 4.58pm.

“Fire engines from Horwich and Atherton quickly attended the scene. The collision involved a single decker bus and a car.

“Firefighters gave first aid to two casualties and made the vehicles safe.

“Fire crews were at the scene for two hours and 10 minutes.”

Greater Manchester Police have been approached for further information.
