Man suffers serious head injury after falling from bike

A cyclist has suffered serious head injuries after falling from his bike in Wigan.

Police and paramedics were called to the incident at the junction of Lamberhead Road and Fleet Street, in Pemberton, at about 11.45am on Monday (June 29).

A man in his 30s has been rushed to hospital with serious head injuries.

Police have taped off both roads as a result of the incident, while bus services in the area have been diverted.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: " Police were called at around 11.45am to a report that a man had fallen from a bicycle on Lamberhead Road, Wigan.

"The man was taken to hospital with a serious head injury."

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service added: "We were called to a collision involving a bike and a car in Lamberhead Road.

"We sent two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance, the air ambulance and an advanced paramedic.

"We have treated a male patient in his 30s for serious head injuries. He has been taken to hospital."
