Man suffers serious head injury after crash involving van and a jeep

A 74-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after a two vehicle crash on the Heads of the Valleys road.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash on that happened on Thursday, May 28 around 1.55pm.

The crash, involving a white Vauxhall combo van and a dark VW Amarok, happened at the roundabout junction of the A465 Heads of Valleys Road and A4059 Hirwaun Road, Hirwaun. 

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "A 74-year-old local man suffered serious head injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil for treatment and is described as stable at this time.

"South Wales Police would like to thank members of the public for their patience while the road remained closed for the investigations to take place."

Police are asking for any witnesses to the collision or the driving of either vehicle prior to the collision to contact them via 101 quoting occurrence No. 2000185670 .
