A man has been seriously injured in an assault in Dublin city centre.
The casualty, who is in his 40s was taken to the Mater Hospital with "serious head injuries" and is in a critical condition following an incident at Seville Place, Dublin 1 in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The assault took place around 2.50am.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident and for any persons with information to come forward.
A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana said: "Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling the area at the time to make this available to Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Store Street Garda Station on 01 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station."
