Man suffers serious head injuries after late night attack on Scots street

A man has been rushed to hospital after a late night attack in Shotts.

Emergency crews were called to Easter Road in the Lanarkshire village at around 3.30am on Sunday.

The 26-year-old man had been walking along the street when a thug pounced on him.

Police say that the victim was rushed to University Hospital Monklands after sustaining a serious head injury.

It is believed that the victim was attacked with a knife during the incident.

Officers have now launched a probe into the incident and are urging potential witnesses to come forwards with any information that may help them with their investigation.

Police Scotland Detective Constable Scott Johnston, of Lanarkshire CID, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident or may have dashcam footage which could assist our investigation to get in touch.

“Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident number 0698 of 3 October. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
