Man suffers serious head injuries after ‘brutal’ attack in Bermondsey

A man was left with serious facial injuries following a “brutal” attack near Bermondsey Underground Station in south London.

Police officers were called to reports of a man, aged in his 40s, with head and facial injuries on Janeway Place just before 6.30pm on Tuesday.

He was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition, Metropolitan Police said.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack, or anyone who saw anything out of the ordinary in the area at the time.

Detective Inspector Yasser Awad, from Central South BCU, said: “This appears to have been a brutal attack and one which has left the victim in a very serious condition in hospital.

“We are carrying our urgent enquiries to try and establish exactly what happened but we would like to hear from anyone who has information that could help our investigation.

“This includes anyone who might have CCTV or doorbell footage in the surrounding areas.”
