A man suffered serious head injuries after being assaulted at a newly opened bar in Holmfirth.
The attack happened inside the Ten Fourteen bar and restaurant on Dunford Road in the early hours of this morning.
The victim, a 21-year-old male, was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The bar only opened its doors on Thursday this week.
Detectives are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Police were called to the scene at 2am this morning by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
They attended at Victoria Square where the victim was found with head injuries.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "He was taken to hospital and subsequent enquiries established he was the victim of assault some minutes before in an incident at the Ten Fourteen bar on Dunford Road.
"The victim remains in hospital today with a serious but not life-threatening facial injury and a number of active enquiries are underway by Kirklees CID."
The bar only opened on Thursday with a band named The Gin performing live.
