Man suffers serious facial injuries in Ballarat shooting

Police taped off the scene of the shooting in Wendouree.

A man in his mid-twenties has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a shooting in Ballarat, west of Melbourne.

Police and emergency services were called to an address on Clover Street in the Ballarat suburb of Wendouree shortly before 3:00pm.

The shooting took place in the front yard of the property, police said.

The man has been transferred to hospital in Melbourne and is understood to be in a serious but stable condition with upper body and facial injuries.

It is understood police do have a suspect, but nobody has been taken into custody.

Members of Victoria Police's Armed Crime Squad were assisting in the investigation.

Police have not made any arrests and are asking any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers.
