Man suffers nasty fall on Ayr High Street as emergency response sparked

A man has fallen and hit his head on Ayr High Street which has sparked an emergency response this afternoon.

Police were called to the medical incident in the town centre today around 1pm.

The male was found after he lost his footing while crossing the road; suffering a head injury near to a phone repair shop.

Ambulance crews raced to the scene to assist the man who has since been taken to hospital for further evaluation.

Police closed the road for a short time to allow paramedics to administer treatment.

The man is described as being in his 40s-50s.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 12.40pm to reports a man had taken unwell on Ayr High Street. Officers closed the road to allow treatment to the man and he was then taken to hospital.”
