Man suffers ‘life-changing’ injuries in collision with double-decker

A pedestrian has suffered what are believed to be life-changing injuries after a collision with a bus.

The man in his 40s has sustained “serious leg injuries” and was taken to hospital.

Police say that his injuries are not life-threatening, but are “believed to be life-changing”. They are appealing for any witnesses to speak to them.

The collision occurred on Lamb Street just after midnight today (29/09).

Surrounding roads were closed until around 9am as police carried out an investigation.

A CityLines East double-decker bus, operated by First Bus, was pictured on the scene this morning being towed away.

The collision involved the number 43 service from the city centre to Kingswood, operating in the early hours of the morning.

First Bus said in a statement that they are “co-operating fully with the subsequent police investigation, which is standard procedure following an incident of this nature, and our thoughts are with the person who was injured."

The full statement from Avon and Somerset Police says: “We were called at just after midnight today (Wednesday 29 September), following a collision between a bus and a pedestrian in Lamb Street, Bristol.

“The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, suffered serious leg injuries and he was taken to hospital for treatment. The injuries are believed to be life-changing, but not life-threatening.

“Roads near the scene were closed while an investigation was carried out and they re-opened at just before 9am.

“If anyone has information about this collision, please call us on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5221226618.”
