Man suffers life changing injuries in city centre bar attack

A man was left with 'life changing' injuries after an attack in a Liverpool city centre bar.

The 30-year-old victim is one of two men who were assaulted in the early hours of Sunday, August 29.

Police believe the same man carried out both attacks.

In the first incident, officers were called to Black Rabbit on Fleet Street after the victim was confronted by another man and punched in the face, at around 1.05am.

The punch caused him to fall to the floor, hitting his head and suffering life changing injuries.

The 30-year-old was left with a broken jaw, a fractured eye socket and a hairline skull fracture.

A short time later the same man is believed to have approached a group of people outside McDonalds, on Church Street.

It is reported he then punched a man to the head.

The second man assaulted did not suffer significant injuries or require hospital treatment but was left 'shaken' by the incident.

A 30-year-old man was arrested by patrols in the area a short time later on suspicion of s18 assault.

He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Merseyside Police is now appealing for witnesses, or anyone who may have captured any video footage on their mobile phone.

They are also asking for any cars or taxi that drove past the incident on Ranelagh Street and who captured anything on dash cam footage to get in touch.

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: "Enquiries into both incidents remain ongoing and I would ask anyone who witnessed either incident or has any information which could assist the investigation to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 21000600757.
