A man in his 50s has been left with potentially "life-changing" injuries after his motorbike collided with a car in Bristol.
The crash happened shortly before 6.30am this morning (Thursday, August 20) in Fishponds, at the junction where Stanbury Avenue meets Downend Road.
Police have been carrying out investigation work throughout the day and a road closure remained in place as of 2pm - follow live updates on the incident here for the latest.
The motorcyclist was a 56-year-old man, who was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Avon and Somerset Police said his injuries are "thought to be life-changing", and that his next of kin have been informed.
A spokesperson added: "We responded to a call from Avon Fire and Rescue Service shortly after 6.30am this morning (Thursday 20 August) following a collision between a car and a motorcyclist on Downend Road, Bristol.
"Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam/CCTV footage is asked to call 101 quoting reference 5220188300."
This morning, police said they expected the road to remain closed "for some time."
Downend Road was taped off between Overndale Road and the Cross Hands pub, and there was also a cordon in place blocking entry to Stanbury Avenue.
Evidence markers could be seen in the road as police officers inspected the motorcycle this afternoon.
One evidence marker has been placed on a silver car at the junction.

Firefighters and South Western Ambulance Service were also called to the scene this morning.
A spokesperson for the latter emergency service said: "We were called at 6.22am about a collision involving a motorcyclist and a car on Stanbury Avenue/ Downend Road.
"We were assisted by the fire service at the scene. We treated a male patient and took him to hospital for further care."
