Man suffers horror head injury after 'serious assault' in Scots village as cops launch probe

A 39-year-old man suffered a horror head injury after he was seriously assaulted in West Dunbartonshire on Saturday night.

Detectives in Clydebank have launched a probe after the incident happened in Renton on Saturday, February 13.

Police and ambulance crews raced to Main Street in the village after the report of the 39-year-old being assaulted by a man at around 9.45pm.

Medics rushed the injured man by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is being treated for a head injury.

Hospital staff have described his condition as serious but stable.

Cops are are now hunting a man who is described as being tall and of stocky build.

Detective Sergeant Bruce Fyfe at Clydebank Police Station said: “We have been carrying out enquiries in the local area and gathering CCTV footage to find out more details on this incident and the man responsible.

“We are aware that the area was quite busy at the time and there were witnesses to this incident who have not yet spoken to police.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who was in area of Main Street, Renton around the time of the serious assault on Saturday night as they may have witnessed something vital to this enquiry.”
