Man suffers head injury in vicious Bootle street attack

A 44-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was beaten up in a Bootle street.

Police were called out to Viola Street at around 6.20pm last night following reports that a man had been assaulted.

Two men made off from the scene on foot after the attack. 

Police said the victim suffered an injury to his head and leg. He was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A police spokesman said to the ECHO: "We are investigating after a 44 year-old man was assaulted in Viola Street in Bootle yesterday, Sunday 7th July.

"At around 6.20pm officers were called to reports that the man has been assaulted by two males and suffered an injury to his head and leg. The two males made off on foot.

"The man was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening."

Detective Inspector Cat Walsh said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Viola Street in Bootle last night who saw anyone or anything suspicious to contact us.”
