A man suffered a head injury after a fight broke out near a South Shields pub.
Police received a report of a fight near the Chichester Arms pub at around 6pm on Friday.
It was reported that a verbal argument had broken out between a small group of men.
One man was then assaulted by another man who then left the area.
When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke to the victim who suffered head injuries but refused medical treatment.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 6pm today (Friday) police received a report of a fight near the Chichester Arms pub.
"It was reported that a verbal argument had broken out between a small group of men before one man was assaulted by another man who then left the area.
"Officers attended the scene and spoke to the victim who had suffered a head injury but refused medical treatment.”
