Man suffers head injury after being punched outside pub

A man in his 50s was rushed to hospital with head injuries after a verbal altercation escalated at a Liverpool pub.

The incident took place inside the Rose of Mossley public house on Rose Lane in Mossley Hill around 6.25pm last night.

Police believe a "verbal altercation" broke out between a group of males inside the pub.

The fight continued outside where a man in his 50s was reportedly punched and fell to the floor.

The man was taken to hospital with a head injury, though it is not believed to be life threatening.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We are investigating following an assault at a pub in Liverpool last night, Saturday 16 th October.

"An investigation is underway and enquiries have been carried out in the local area."

Detective Inspector Chris Hawitt said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Rose Lane at around 6.30pm last night who may have witnessed this incident to contact us as they may have information which is vital to our investigation.”
