Man suffers facial injuries in attack after 'attempted dog theft' in West Lothian

A man was allegedly battered by an attacker who was reportedly attempting to steal his dog in West Lothian.

Locals witnessed the attack in Hazel Grove, in the Craigshill area of Livingston on Tuesday.

The attacker was accompanied by a female accomplice after what the witnesses claim was an attempted dog-knapping.

Posting warnings on social media after the incident, one local wrote: "People trying to steal your dogs in Craigshill.

"Don't answer your door.

"Witnessed a young lad in Hazel Grove get his face burst. Be careful everyone and keep doors locked.

"It's sickening."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4pm on Tuesday, 23 March, 2021, police attended a report of a man having been assaulted on Hazel Grove in Livingston.

“A 26-year-old man was treated for facial injuries at hospital.

“A 26-year-old woman and 26-year-old man were arrested and charged in connection with the assault and are due to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court at a later date. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
