Man suffers facial injuries during serious assault in Airdrie town centre on Halloween

A man was taken to hospital after suffering facial injuries during an attack in Airdrie town centre during the early hours of Halloween.

The victim was seriously assaulted at around 2.20am on Sunday in Graham Street.

Police are looking for the public's help to trace the attacker, with the man set upon requiring treatment for his injuries at Monklands Hospital.

Officers posted on Facebook: "Police Scotland is appealing for information after a serious assault in Airdrie town centre in the early hours of Sunday.

"It happened in a busy street about 2.20am on Sunday, 31 October, on Graham Street, with a man requiring hospital treatment to facial injuries.

"Any person with any information is asked to please contact Coatbridge CID on 101, quoting reference 3471 of October 31."
