A young man suffered serious injuries to his arm and face during a stabbing on a country lane, it has emerged.
The attack happened on Broadcarr Lane near farmland in Mossley, Tameside, on Sunday afternoon.
Initially police said only that a man was found with serious injuries.
Now detectives have confirmed the victim is a 25-year-old man who had been stabbed, suffering injuries to his arm and face.
Paramedics were called to the scene and took him to hospital.
North Weest Ambulance Service later summoned police to the scene.
An investigation is underway and police have appealed to anyone with information to get in touch.
Nearby residents reported how Broadcarr Lane was cordoned off following the attack just before 2pm.
A statement from Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly before 2pm on Sunday 15 November 2020, police were called by the ambulance service to reports of a stabbing on Broadcarr Lane, Mossley.
"A 25-year-old man was taken to hospital with injuries to his arm and face.
"This is believed to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.
"No arrests have been made and enquiries remain ongoing."
A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: "A male in his 20s was taken to hospital with serious injuries. It is now a police matter."
