Man suffers burns and smoke inhalation after house fire in Burnage

A man suffered burns and smoke inhalation after a fire at a home in Burnage today (Sunday).

Fire crews were called to the home on Kingsway at around 1.30pm.

The blaze was out by 2.30pm.

A spokeswoman for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire engines from Withington, Wythenshawe and Stockport were quickly on the scene of a fire involving the rear bedroom of a two-storey building.

"Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, a Honeywell gas detector, a thermal imaging camera and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

"One adult male who was suffering from smoke inhalation and burns was treated at the scene by fire service personnel prior to the arrival of North West Ambulance Service.

"Our crews remain at the scene of this incident.”
