A 28-year-old man was seriously injured Wednesday after he was struck by a vehicle in Austin on the West Side.

About 3:40 a.m. he was at the entrance of an alley in the 4800 block of West Potomac Avenue, when he went to confront the driver of a Jeep who was honking his horn in the alley, Chicago police said.

After an argument, the driver of the Jeep drove into the 28-year-old, dragging him a short distance before fleeing the scene, police said.

He was taken to West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park in serious condition, and will be transfered to Stroger Hospital, police said.

Area Five detectives are investigating.
