Man struck by biker on electric scooter in Edinburgh hit and run

Police are hunting a hit-and-run driver who mowed down a man in an electric scooter in Edinburgh.

A 26-year-old man was crossing Great King Street, at its junction with Dundas Street at around 9.45pm on Friday when he was struck.

The driver of the electric scooter failed to stop and drove off.

The victim went home but later took himself to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Medics treated the victim for his injuries before he was later released.

Police were alerted to the serious road accident thereafter.

Officers are appealing for information in a bid to trace the driver.

Anyone with dash cam footage who was in the area at the time is also being urged to come forward.

Inspector Roger Park said: “Since this crash was reported to us, we have been carrying out enquiries to establish more details on this incident, and we are working to identify the vehicle involved and trace its occupants.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident, or who was driving on this road around the time of the crash on Friday evening who has dash-cam footage to get in touch, as they may have information that will help our investigation.”

Anyone with details should contact Edinburgh Road Policing Unit on 101 quoting reference number 4418 of September 18.
