Man stole $295k ring in brazen Syd robbery

The diamond ring worth $295,000 was snatched in a brazen daylight robbery at a Sydney jewellery shop (AAP)

Police are hoping the release of CCTV footage will help them find a man wearing a surgical mask and possibly a long blond wig who stole a $295,000 diamond ring last year.

The man snatched the valuable piece after asking to inspect items at a jewellery store in a shopping centre on Sydney's northern beaches on the morning of October 12.

He then fled the store, leaving the 58-year-old shop attendant shaken but uninjured.

Police are still investigating the theft of the pear-shaped 18-carat diamond ring.

They've released CCTV footage that shows the man walking at Warringah Mall.

The Caucasian man in his late 30s or early 40s is about 180cm tall and is seen wearing a check shirt, dark jeans, grey sneakers and a beige cap.

A surgical mask covers most of his face.

He has a blond ponytail, which police say may have been a wig.
