Man still fighting for his life after fall near New Brighton beach

A man is still fighting for his life after falling near New Brighton beach.

The man is said to have suffered serious injuries after falling at around 9.35pm on Sunday, January 15. Emergency services including police and North West ambulance crews were called to the scene over reports of concern for the safety of a man.

Officers said they then found the man, in his 30s, near to the promenade, near Fort Perch Rock. He was rescued and taken to hospital by ambulance.

Police initially described his condition as being critical. They have now confirmed his condition is being described as critical but stable.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "We can confirm that emergency services were in New Brighton following a concern for safety last night, Sunday 15 January. At around 9.35pm, the ambulance service reported that a man in his 30s had fallen near to Fort Perch Rock and sustained serious injuries.

"He was taken by ambulance to hospital and is described as in a critical condition."
