Man still fighting for his life after being attacked outside kebab house

A man who was assaulted outside a kebab shop in Wallasey is still fighting for his life.

The emergency services were called out to Kebab House in Liscard Village, Wallasey , at around 12.45am yesterday following reports of an assault.

A 53-year-old man was rushed to hospital with a serious head injury after the incident.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police confirmed this morning that his condition continues to be critical and a 34 year-old man who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of s20 assault has now been released under investigation.

Police officers  are checking CCTV footage in the area following the attack, as an investigation into what happened continues.

"At 12.45am we received a report that a 53 year-old man had been assaulted outside Kebab House in Liscard Village, Wallasey.

"The man has been taken to hospital with a head injury. His condition is currently described as critical but stable."

They added: "A 34 year-old man who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of s20 assault has now been released under investigation.

"An investigation is underway and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area."
