Man steals pushchair before setting it alight

A man stole a pushchair from a front garden before setting fire to it.

Police and fire attended the scene in Easton and are treating the fire as a deliberate act.

It happened yesterday night (March 24) at 11pm.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called to reports of the theft of a pushchair from the front garden of a property in Chaplin Road last night shortly after 11pm.

"A man who took the pushchair then set fire to it as he was running.

"The pushchair was later found on fire in St Marks Road.

"Fire service attended to extinguish.

"The suspect is described as a man in his 30s wearing a red and white checked type jacket and jeans."

Avon Fire and Rescue also confirmed to Bristol Live that a pushchair was deliberately burnt during this incident.

A spokesperson for the service said: "One crew from Temple fire station was mobilised to reports of a bonfire on St Mark’s Road, Easton.

"A pushchair and wood were found on the bonfire.

"On arrival, firefighters used one hose reel to extinguish the fire.

"Police were also in attendance.

"The cause is thought to be deliberate."
