Man steals hundreds of pounds worth of alcohol from city bars

A man who stole hundreds of pounds worth of alcohol from city bars has been jailed.

Steven Harris, 44, of Forest Road West, Nottingham, was arrested at the scene of a burglary - and CCTV footage caught him in the act.

The police investigation found he'd been stealing spirits on three evenings last December.

Harris was seen on CCTV to have entered the stock areas of three bars in the city, taking whatever he could carry.

He was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday, August 27, to nine months in prison.

Sergeant Pace, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Nottinghamshire Police works closely with the business community in Nottingham city centre to address any concerns or issues they have.

“This arrest, charge and result are thanks to a robust investigation by officers from our City Centre Police Team.

“Burglary can have a devastating impact on businesses, both financially and for their staff. As a force, we are committed to proactively tackling burglary.

“We encourage anyone who is a victim of burglary to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or in an emergency, dial 999.

"Reporting this and other suspicious incidents (even if they don’t need police attendance in person) helps us build a picture to make our City safer for all.”
