Man steals empty cash box at knifepoint in early morning Crumlin robbery

Gardai have launched an investigation after a man stole an empty cash box at knifepoint.

The scary robbery occurred on the Crumlin Road around 6:40am this morning.

The robber approached a man carrying a cash box, produced a knife, and demanded the box be handed over.

He then fled the scene with the box, which was later confirmed to have been empty.

No injuries were reported as a result, and gardai are appealing to anyone who has any information to get in contact.

They said: "Gardai attended a cash-in-transit robbery which occurred at a premises on the Crumlin Road in Dublin this morning, 17th February 2022.

"The incident occurred at approximately 6.40am when a lone male approached a worker who was carrying a cash box.

"The male produced a knife and demanded the cash box be handed over.

"The male quickly fled the scene with the box, which was empty at the time.

"No injuries were reported.

"Anyone with information or who was in the area at the time is asked to contact Gardaí at Sundrive Garda Station 01 666 6600."
