Man stamped on victim's head in Mansfield attack

A man has received a suspended sentence after stamping on the head of a victim who was laid on the floor in Mansfield.

Jack Brudenell kicked a man before stamping on him in Chesterfield Road South on August 29, 2019, causing the victim to suffer cuts and grazes to the head.

The 26-year-old, of Cranmer Grove, Mansfield, pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday, November 3.

When he was initially interviewed by police, Brudenell claimed he only punched the victim once to the face in an act of self-defence. He denied punching, kicking or stamping on him while he was on the floor.

Brudenell was given an 18-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and must carry out 200 hours’ unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £500 compensation.

Police Constable Andrew Keightley, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The force treats all reports of assault and violence seriously and investigates reports.

“We will take robust action against those involved in this type of disorder and work hard to bring them before the court to answer for their crimes.”
