A man stabbed himself following reports of a domestic incident in Fallowfield.
It is unclear how badly injured the man was.
Police were called to Copper Place just before 3.40pm today (Wednesday).
A GMP spokesman said no arrests have been made.
Photos from the scene showed a number of emergency service vehicles on neighbouring Platt Lane following the incident.
A GMP spokesman confirmed the incident was a stabbing.
He said: "We were called to Copper Place in Fallowfield. We got a call just before 3.40pm.
"It seems to be a domestic incident. There was a man outside the property and he has suffered a self inflicted wound by a bladed article.
"No arrests have been made. I'm not sure if he has gone to hospital.
"He didn't harm anyone else."
