Man stabs brother-in-law to death in Ghatkopar

A man killed his brother-in-law when the latter intervened in a fight between him and his wife at a chawl in Ghatkopar on Sunday.

The incident occurred at Punjabi chawl at Kamaraj nagar in Ghatkopar (East) on Sunday when the deceased Tanveer Kamruddin Shaikh, 34, noticed a heated fight between his sister and her husband Zakir Hussain Shaikh, 40. Tanveer lived in the neighborhood and used to try and solve their domestic disputes, the police said. “When Tanveer intervened during the quarrel, Zakir hit him with a knife on his neck,” said Rajesh Pradhan, deputy commissioner of police, Zone 7.

Locals rushed a profusely bleeding Tanveer to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead. The accused fled the chawl after the incident. A case has been booked against him under Section 302 for murder of the IPC.
