Gardai are following a "definite line of inquiry" after a man was allegedly stabbed with a syringe after retrieving his phone from a would-be thief.
The incident, which happened at the end of December, has come to light after the man shared footage of his alleged attacker running around a North Dublin petrol station shouting abuse at him.

The man said he chased down the thief after he allegedly snatched his phone while he was standing at a bus stop on Ballymun Road.
The pair then fought for about five minutes before the victim managed to get his phone back - but he later noticed he had been stabbed with a needle.

The incident was reported to gardai in Ballymun who say they are following a definite line of enquiry.
A spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating a robbery of a mobile phone from a 27-year-old man during an incident at a service station in Ballymun on the 27/12/2018.

"At approximately 10pm the man was approached by a male who snatched his phone and ran away.
"The injured party ran after the man and managed to retrieve his phone but it is alleged he sustained a needle prick injury from a syringe during the altercation.
"The matter was later reported to gardai who have commenced an investigation and are now following a definite line of enquiry. The investigation is ongoing."
