A murder investigation was launched.

Mr Taylor's loved ones have now paid tribute.

"Our hearts are broken and our lives are devastated.

"We ask the press and the public to respect our privacy at this time."

Six people arrested on suspicion of murder following Mr Taylor's death were later released on bail.

Three men - aged 26, 38 and 66 - and three women - aged 24, 31 and 49 - were detained.

Rochdale Coroners' Court confirmed a file relating to Mr Taylor's death has been received. The court recorded his full name as Stephen Colin Taylor.

The date for an inquest opening has not yet been set.

Speaking after the incident, Det Chief Insp Ben Cottam, of GMP's Major Incidents Team, said: "Our thoughts are very much with the man's family at this time.

"While this is believed to be an isolated incident, with no wider threat to the public, our team of detectives are working tirelessly to establish the exact circumstances of his death, and to find out who is responsible.

"I would like to be clear that our investigation remains very much ongoing and I would ask anyone with information to come forward.

"No matter how minor you may think it is, it could prove invaluable to our investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to call 0161 856 8483 quoting incident 236 of March 25 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
