Man stabbed to death on Gold Coast

Detectives visited the Beachcomber apartments after the fatal stabbing.

Police are still trying to identify the weapon that was used in the fatal stabbing of a man on the Gold Coast overnight.

A 35-year-old man was found on a Surfers Paradise street just after 7:00pm with wounds to his chest and was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital.

Detective Inspector Chris Ahearn said no-one had been charged and police were still looking for the weapon.

"We don't know, but it appears it was from an edged weapon like a knife or something similar.

"Of course we have some forensic pathology work to do to give us the exact nature of that injury."

He said around five people were being questioned by detectives.

"It is certainly not a spousal, partner or some sort of situation like that.

"Our early indications are they are loosely known to each other ... but again that will be the focus of our investigation going forward."

Investigators are appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Hanlan Street at that time to contact police.
