A 29-year-old man has been stabbed to death in Edinburgh city centre.
The victim was on Castle Terrace when he was attacked by another man.
It’s not yet clear why he was attacked but members of the public went to his aid following the brutal attack.
However it’s understood the man died at the scene.
The road, which sits underneath Edinburgh Castle, has been closed by police and is expected to remain closed for some time.
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
