Man, 22, knifed to death in broad daylight in Anerley is London's fourth knife murder in five days

A 22-year-old man has been stabbed to death in broad daylight in a south-east London residential street.

Police were called at about 12.30pm on Sunday to reports of a man with stab injuries in Samos Road, Anerley.

An air ambulance was also scrambled but despite paramedics' efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 1pm.

Labour MP for Lewisham West and Penge, Ellie Reeves, posted on Twitter that she was "devastated" at the news.

She wrote: "Devastated to hear about the murder on Samos Road today. The second murder in my constituency in 72 hours.

"I am waiting for further details but my thoughts are with the victim and their family. This has to stop."

It comes after 15-year-old Jay Hughes, also known as Jai Sewell, was stabbed to death in Bellingham, south-east London, on Thursday.

The man also died just yards from the park where Michael Jonas Jnr was brutally killed in November last year.

Mr Jonas's father Michael Jonas Sr, 54, today told the Standard he still thinks about what could have happened if he had seen his son on the night of his death. He described seeing his son in a hospital as “the worst moment of [his] life”.

After today's incident he told The Sun: "I can't believe this. There's no end in view.

"I feel so sad, I feel very upset. No one is learning, no one is picking up anything from Michael's incident. People don't really care."

Sunday's murder is the fourth knife death in south London in the space of five days.

On Friday, 17-year-old Malcolm Mide-Madariola was stabbed to death outside Clapham South station. On Thursday, Jay Hughes was killed in Bellingham.

On Wednesday, Rocky Djelal, 38, died from fatal knife wounds next to a children’s playground at Southwark Park.

The identity of the latest victim is not yet known.

The Met said there had been no arrests as it launched its "urgent investigation".

A police cordon was put in place as forensic officers combed the scene for evidence.

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101, quoting reference CAD 3251 of November 4
