A 35-year-old man was stabbed to death Sunday after getting into an alleged confrontation with a coworker in Portage Park on the Northwest Side.

About 6:50 p.m., the man got into an argument with a 37-year-old coworker that turned physical inside a commercial business in the 5000 block of West Irving Park Road, Chicago police said.

Witnesses told police that yelling and screaming could be heard from the kitchen area of the business, and the 37-year-old man was alleged to have repeatedly stabbed the victim with a knife.

The 35-year-old man was rushed to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition but later died, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not yet commented on the man’s death.

The 37-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene, police said. Area North detectives are investigating.
