May 30--A man was killed and two other people were hurt in two separate stabbing incidents early Saturday morning in the Pilsen and Bronzeville neighborhoods, police said.
Around 12:40 a.m., a 43-year-old man was inside Simone's Bar, 960 W. 18th St., when he got into an altercation with another person who then apparently stabbed him, police said.
The man suffered a fatal stab wound to his neck and was unresponsive at the scene, said Chicago police spokesman Officer Ron Gaines.
A person, whose age and gender were not immediately available, was taken into custody as a result of the stabbing.
No other information was available, and police were still investigating.
Several people and police officers stood outside the bar early Saturday.
A man, visibly stressed, sat on the steps of the entrance inside the bar. Another man offered him a cigarette.
"Thank you. I really needed this cigarette," said the man on the steps.
Nearby, a separate group of about three men stood smoking and chatting. As one man talked to the others, he brought his hand up to his throat, making a cutting motion from left to right.
Later, about 3:17 a.m., a 25-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were stabbed while they were outside in the Bronzeville neighborhood, Gaines said.
The two were in the 700 block of East 41 Street in a group of people when a physical altercation occurred, Gaines said. Someone in the group took out a knife and started stabbing the woman and the man.
Both suffered several stab wounds and were taken to Stroger Hospital, Gaines said.
The man was listed in critical condition, and the woman's condition stabilized, Gaines said.
No one was in custody as a result of the incident as of early Saturday, and no other information was immediately available.
